Terms of Use for Our Myths & Folklore Blog

Last updated: March 2025

These terms cover your use of this blog and any illustrated piece or retelling you commission through it — a bound volume of old tales, a print of an ancient statue, or a custom legend. By browsing the site you accept them.

Using the site

You're welcome to read, save and print these stories for your own enjoyment. Please don't copy our retellings of myths and folklore for resale, or present our storytelling as your own work.

Statues Guarding Secrets

A message sent through the site is simply an enquiry, not a finished arrangement. A commission is only confirmed once we've agreed the legend to be told, the price, and the timing in writing.

We take on only a handful of commissions each season — illustrated legends, bound retellings, studies of ancient art. If we can't do a story justice, or can't finish it in time, we'll say so rather than take it on.

Seasonal Storytelling

Prices are agreed before any work on a piece begins, and a deposit is usually taken at the start. The remaining balance is due before the finished book or print is sent out.

Ancient Myths

Colour, texture and binding vary slightly from one hand-bound book or print to the next, and photographs never capture it exactly. These small differences are part of the craft, not a flaw.

Stories Passed Down

We pack every book and print ourselves and send it once the ink and binding have properly set. If a piece arrives damaged, let us know within a few days and we'll repair or replace it.

A piece made to your own specification — a legend chosen just for you — cannot be returned unless it's faulty, since it was created for you alone.

Images and words

The stories, illustrations and essays gathered here are our own retellings, drawn from old books, ancient art and years of research into mythology and folklore. If you'd like to quote or reuse any of it, just ask — we're almost always happy to share, as long as the original tale is credited.

Where our storytelling ends

We work hard to stay faithful to the oldest versions of each myth and legend we cover, cross-checking sources and old books wherever we can. Even so, folklore shifts from region to region and teller to teller, so we can't promise every detail matches every variant you may find elsewhere.

Changes to this page

If anything about how we use cookies changes, we will update this page and adjust the date at the top, so a quick glance tells you whether our storytelling practices around data have shifted since your last visit.

Questions

If anything here leaves you uncertain — about cookies, about a story's source, or anything else — reach out through the contact page and we will give you a straight, plain answer.
