A cookie is a small file this site leaves in your browser so it can recognise you on your next visit to read about myths, legends and folklore. It helps us remember your preferences and understand which ancient tales and stories our readers return to most. This page explains exactly which cookies we use and what each one does.
We use very few, and none of them track you across other sites. They keep this blog of myths and folklore running smoothly, remember small preferences like a dismissed message, and show us, in rough numbers, which legends and stories readers come back to most.
Nothing you read here is tracked once you leave, and we never sell what a cookie might notice about your visit. This site carries no advertising cookie, no hidden tracker following you from the tale of the trickster god to the next legend you open — only what is needed to keep the stories loading properly.
If a page here embeds a video of an ancient statue, a map of old pilgrimage routes, or a share button from another service, that company may set its own cookie when the page loads. Their own policy governs what happens to it — we have no control over it, and it is separate from anything we collect ourselves.
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually somewhere in the privacy or security settings. If you block the ones this site needs to function, some pages — like saved reading lists or search filters across our archive of legends — may stop working properly.
Clearing your cookies wipes out anything already stored here, including which myths you had bookmarked or which old books you were partway through. The site will treat you as a brand-new reader all over again.
What we do with personal information more broadly is explained on a separate page.

If anything about how we use cookies changes, we will update this page and adjust the date at the top, so a quick glance tells you whether our storytelling practices around data have shifted since your last visit.
If anything here leaves you uncertain — about cookies, about a story's source, or anything else — reach out through the contact page and we will give you a straight, plain answer.
